Good Evening Rep
Good Evening Rep is a theater project founded in April 2022 by Christopher Cortez Adams, Tomás Espinoza, and David Potters. The mission of the project is to introduce theater to a new audience of young creatives in different mediums by enlisting them to assist with design & branding, wardrobe styling and music for each show. We program archival and new theater pieces relevant to a contemporary downtown audience.
We have curated plays from legends and emerging playwrites alike, including but not limited to Sam Shepard, Lanford Wilson, Miguel Piñero, Elaine May, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Edison Ventura Mata Diaz, and Kai Williams. Performers range from Broadway and the Marvel cinematic universe to skate parks, vintage shops, and delis.
They began at the Jane Ballroom inside the legendary Jane Hotel with a 7 month residency. Since the Jane closed, Good Evening has had shows at NUBLU featuring solo works from Ruby McCollister, Ike Ufomado and others, La MaMa Experimental Theater space with a revival reading of Lanford Wilson’s epic play ‘Balm in Gilead’, Georgia Room in Grammercy with a focus on plays in New York bars, and most recently Aime Leon Dore with a small retrospective on New York based writer, Seth Zvi Rosenfeld. The most recent show was the second presentation of original works back at Georgia Room on May 23rd.
